Brief History
Situated on the south eastern edge of the campus adjoining Forest Road, on open ground formally known as Towles Field, construction began in 1969-70 of Falkner Eggington Courts, self-catering accommodation for over 570 students. Consisting of red brick ‘sets’, and not unlike a housing estate in appearance.
Falkner Eggington Court was originally designed for postgraduate and final year students. The first cohorts of ‘Freshers’ appeared in 1993 and today they account for over two third of the students in occupation.
John Davies, the then Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, officially opened the hall on 2nd October 1972. The office and mailroom were originally located in a port-a-cabin in the car park, in 1972 they were housed in F39 1, 2 and 3 and by 1973 they had their purpose built facility which we know today.

Falkner Eggington Court is a vibrant hall of residence situated to the south of the campus. Bounded by Ashleigh Drive, Fairmont Drive and Forest Road, Falk-Egg (as it is affectionately known) is set in an attractive wooded environment, conveniently located south of the Universities administrative hub.
Falk-Egg Hall provides accommodation for 579 students and forms the largest self-catered Hall of Residence on the campus. The hall comprises 73 accommodation flats. Each flat consists of eight study bedrooms, kitchen and associated toilet and washing facilities. The blocks have been constructed to form cosy inward facing quads.
Purple, Yellow and Orange quads make up Falkner Court; while on the other side of the road, Red, Blue and Green Quads form Eggington Court. Each Quad has a representative who sits on the Hall Committee. Falkner Eggington court is the only accommodation to be open 52 weeks a year.
Falk-Egg offers very good value for money. Every study bedroom includes standard furnishing and equipment such as a bed, shelving, table, lights, wardrobe and curtains.
